Program Goals…
- Train Iowa National Board Teachers as candidate support providers
- Create cohorts of candidates in each AEA region
- Support candidates through certification process
- Offer candidates courses through certification
- Minimize the number of retake candidates
- Increase Iowa teachers achieving certification
Iowa Support Program Candidate Advantages
- Meet with a candidate support provider and cohort in your region through the process
- Take courses offered through St. Ambrose Master of Education in Teaching program
- Analyze portfolio entries within cohort
- Prepare for assessment center exercises
Financial Considerations for Iowa Candidates
- National Board Certification costs $2500
- State of Iowa National Board Certification candidates are currently eligible for a fee reimbursement of $1,250 for applying and an additional $1,250 upon certification
- Iowa teachers receiving National Board Certification currently receive an annual award of $2,500 for the life of the certificate (10 years)
- Currently four license renewal units may be earned for completion of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification
- Candidates must have applied by Dec. 31, 2007 to be eligible for awards!!
