Grant Process
In Spring 2001, at the Provost’s request, the Deans appointed faculty to serve on a committee to develop this policy. Committee members are David O’Connell, John Delaney, Bill Hixon, Ken Colwell, and Hope Gardina (chair).
The committee studied policies from several universities, among them: Notre Dame, Marquette, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, Indiana, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Catholic University. AAUP guidelines were also consulted. An initial draft was provided to the University’s legal counsel. Consequently, the following draft includes clarification of the law with respect to copyright, patents, and trademarks.
The current draft will be presented to the faculty for review and comment.
