>5.  Motion to approve the Undergraduate Accounting Program by G. Bereskin,
>second M. Legg.  A discussion followed with input from Rob Faulkner,
>Allison Ambrose and Dee Wellman.  One program change being made is to raise
>the minimum GPA to 2.25 in all accounting courses to earn graduation
>status.  This change is projected to improve the quality of the program and
>would, therefore, enhance the community's perception of the accounting
>program at SAU.  D.  Wellman commented that sometimes our graduates have
>difficulty competing with graduates from other programs who have more
>technological resources.  D. Moeller discussed that action plan requests
>from Accounting have been funded within one or two years and that our
>liberal arts education often helps students become problem solvers in the
>job market and prepares them for managerial positions.  A. Ambrose felt
>that accounting majors have a strong program.  R. Faulkner agreed that a
>required internship program would also enhance the program's credibility;
>A. Ambrose stated that required internships are a long-range goal and that
>the five faculty would be more diligent in monitoring student's portfolios
>for the assessment process.  Motion approved.
