November 7, 2000

The meeting of the St. Ambrose Educational Policies Committee was called to order at 3:15 by Terry Schlabach, Chair.  Present were:

1.  The minutes from the October 19, 2000 meeting were approved with two corrections:  HED 240 was designed to serve Early Childhood Majors and the PED Ballet class should be numbered PED 213. Moved Haubrich, second Less.

2.  Motion to approve the Graduate Commencement Policies, moved Moeller, second Herzig.  Discussion followed. Moved Bereskin, second Herzig to amend the question and vote on Criminal Justice and Social Work separately from the rest of the program policies.  Passed.  Motion by Herzig, second Less to table the Criminal Justice and Social Work policies. Passed.  Motion to accept other Graduate Commencement Policies, moved Herzig, second Bereskin.
Passed. Motion to remand Criminal Justice and Social Work back to the Departments for revision and clarification, moved Haubrich, second Moeller.
Passed.

3.  Motion to approve IL 101 Information Literacy as a 1 credit library skills course, moved M. Legg, second Bereskin.  John Pollitz reported this course would give students more intensive training in the use of critical thinking skills in seeking information through available resources.  It
would be an introductory course and test-out opportunities are available.
Passed.

4. Moved Bereskin, second Haubrich to approve Master of Accounting Program changes:
Addition of MAcc 620 - Seminar in Graduate Accounting Topics,  MAcc 625 - Graduate Accounting Internship, MAcc 605 - Advance Tax Topics (cross-listed with ACCT 306), MAcc 610 - Advanced Financial Accounting Topics (cross-list with ACCT 401).  The creation of a MIS concentration in the MAcc program. Cross-list MBA 725 - the Management Consulting Profession with MAcc 614. Catalog description changes.  Passed.

5.  Motion by Herzig, second Haubrich to adjourn at 4:14 pm.
