International Admission Procedures

  • Complete an application for admission and Declaration of Finances form. (you will need Acrobat Reader to view and print)

  • First year students (with no previous college work) need to have official secondary education marks sent to our Admissions Office). Transfer and graduate students need to have official transcripts of all college work sent to our Admissions Office. If you have fewer than 24 semester hours (or 36 quarter hours) of college credit, have official secondary school transcripts sent as well.

  • Take the TOEFL exam, and have the official results sent to St. Ambrose (reporting code number 6617). You must earn a score of at least 500 (written) or 173 (computer) on the TOEFL to be considered for admission to undergraduate programs, and at least 550 (written) or 213 (computer) for admission to graduate programs. 

  • Individual graduate programs may have additional application procedures. See http://www.sau.edu/gradstudies.

  • Upon acceptance, you must make a deposit of $5000 (U.S.), which will be applied to first semester costs. 

  • International students are subject to the immigration regulations of the U.S. Department of Justice.

You must complete all steps of the admission procedure, including those listed above, before St. Ambrose can issue a letter of acceptance and an I-20 form, as required by the United States government before it will grant a student visa.
