Noon-6 p.m.
Rogalski Center
Ripley and Lombard Streets, one block west of Harrison Street
Join the QC community for an afternoon of fun as we celebrate local diversity with performances, food, children’s activities, merchandise sales, and information about local organizations.
Cost: $2 for adults; children under 12 will be admitted for free
The festival takes place in the Rogalski Center. There is international food and merchandise and a main stage for musical and dance performances. Children receive passports for travel around the world with crafts and activities in a special children's area.
“We were impressed with the great turnout last year and hope that we can make this year an even bigger success,” says Daniela Martinez, an Ambrose MBA alum from Ecuador and former president of BeeGlobal. “It’s a great way to interact with people from different cultures and backgrounds without having to leave the Quad Cities.”
BeeGlobal’s purpose is to promote diversity and unity by encouraging interaction between persons of all cultures on campus, educating the campus community about various cultures and reaching out to the larger community.
2009 Diversity Fest goals were:
1. To increase community involvement
2. To have more than 1000 people attend
3. To raise four $1,000 scholarships for Study Abroad and International Students
4. To celebrate and acknowledge the cultural diversity in the Quad Cities
5. To support the Ambrose Core Mission Values and Guiding Principle of diversity.
2008 Diversity Fest donated $4000 in scholarships.
