Master of Education in Educational Administration

St. Ambrose, through the Loras /St. Ambrose Consortium for Educational Leadership, or LSACEL, has created a master’s degree program based on national standards that addresses the need for qualified administrators in diocesan, public and other private schools. The MEA program, which has been approved by the Iowa State Board of Education, addresses the pressing need for highly qualified administrators. You can anticipate an interesting, challenging career in elementary or secondary school settings, in either the parochial or public sector.

Advantages. As a St. Ambrose graduate student, you’ll experience the highly-personalized academic environment that has put the university on the leading edge of learning. Here, you’ll get the knowledge and credentials for career change or advancement you’re seeking. And you’ll be part of a graduate community that values our Catholic heritage. It’s an exceptional combination that will prepare you to be a professional who makes a real difference in today’s complex, global society.

The MEA is equally well suited for diocesan teachers or educators from the public schools, whether they are preparing for a principalship position or seeking additional studies to augment their classroom experience.

Goals and Objectives
The MEA program’s vision, mission, purpose, and conceptual framework are geared toward developing highly qualified educational administrators:

  • Vision: Developing leaders to ensure that all students learn
    at high levels.
  • Purpose: To provide aspiring school leaders with strengthened core knowledge, skills, and abilities, resulting in improved student achievement, and to prepare highly qualified administrative candidates with the capacity to lead elementary and secondary schools through the 21st century.
