On knowing what you are getting:
This class is designed for the college of business majors to assist them in analyzing situations from an ethical perspective they may encounter in their professional life. There is no text, I use a collection of articles down loaded from the on-line article databases - medium level of difficulty. We read about 40 pages a week. As typical in my classes, the purpose of meeting is to converse about the reading. This class also includes a number of games, simulations, small group/large group decision making activities in class, a smattering of lecture and a fair amount text analysis. Students are evaluated using a menu or cafeteria style where they may choose from a number of various options on how and over what they wish to be evaluated. Class is moderately difficult and most evaluation options involve writing. The class is also highly interactive, fun and challenging. See the prior evaluations below and review the syllabus for a more complete look at what you may be getting into.
For this semester, we will explore business ethics issue by focusing on Wal-Mart almost exclusively. Is it The Free Market Saint or The Great Satan? Take the class and find out!
