Theatre Picnic Recap
You know the beginning of the year is just around the bend when the first flyers for the annual Theatre Picnic are posted. Each August, during the first week of classes, the SAU Theatre Department hosts a picnic on the Allaert Auditorium Stage. It serves as an opportunity for new students to gain information on the department, for old students and faculty to reconnect and catch up, and to prepare everyone to jump back into another strong year.

One of the most important tasks performed at the Theatre Picnic is the CallBoard election. The CallBoard is a small group of students, with one elected representative from each class. This group meets after every mainstage show to evaluate the production’s process, select the shows for the following season, and plan the annual end-of-the-year Galvins Night! After the election, the 2008-2009 CallBoard has been chosen and is comprised of senior Jovon Eberhart, junior Katie McCormack, sophomore Josh Tipsword, and freshman Justine Petesch.

Also at the picnic was information on the May 2008 Theatre in Ireland trip, the welcoming of the newest recipient of the Michael Kennedy Scholar, freshman Justine Petesch, and some brief information on all of the shows in the 2008-09 season.

As the picnic ended, it was clear to see that the SAU Theatre Department has another great year ahead of itself. Thank you to everyone who attended, and we look forward to working with you all this year!
