Jeremy BurkeJeremy Burke '99
Assistant Director
at St. Ambrose for 4 years

territory: all four-year institutions and out-of-state community colleges

A bit about Jeremy:  Jeremy hasn't left school since he started kindergarten at Northeast in Goose Lake, Iowa. Learning is a passion for him, and he says he feels privileged to come to work on a college campus every day. "The university environment is such a stimulating one that I'm always learning something new—either about the world or myself."

Jeremy is also an adjunct instructor in the Philosophy Department and the assistant director of general education. Away from campus, expect to find him on the disc golf course, browsing through local bookstores and chasing indie bands around the Midwest.

What I look for in a student: I am looking for students interested in small classes, personal attention from their professors, and a desire to be involved in school activities.

What I like about my job: My favorite aspect of working in Admissions is helping prospective students become acquainted with St. Ambrose. The best part about working for St. Ambrose in general is the strong sense of community that flourishes here. I always enjoy opportunities to talk with fellow Ambrosians, be they students, faculty, staff or alumni.

My hobbies: Reading, writing, sports and music

Connections to SAU: My father, Tom, started working as a carpenter for the Physical Plant in 1990. My summer vacations were spent helping him out around campus and I worked in the Physical Plant throughout my undergrad days until my graduation in 1999. My sister, Emily, graduated from St. Ambrose in 2001 and my brother, Zachary, will graduate in 2006. Both of them have worked in Campus Ministry.

Most commonly asked question: How are my classes going to transfer? And Jeremy's answer: The answer to this question varies, but usually classes transfer easily. We will accept up to 60 credits from a community college and up to 90 from a four-year institution. The Records and Registration Office will evaluate your transcripts after you have been admitted.
