Athletic Hall of Fame

Phillip B. Doherty - Basketball

Inducted into Hall of Fame in 1988

Philip Doherty played guard on the basketball team for four years from 1974-1978. During that time, the team compiled a 60-55 record under head coach Ron Bohls.

Doherty was named “Player of the Week” by the NAIA, the first player to receive such recognition. He also scored 1,000 points in three years of action.

His 1,000 points was scored in only three years because he was out half of his freshman and half of his sophomore years with knee surgery.

Doherty graduated cum laude in 1978 with a degree in accounting.
