St. Ambrose 2 Spring Arbor 9

After a long day at the ballpark on Sunday, the Fighting Bees decided to sleep until about noon on Monday. The only problem was that their first game of the day was at 9:00 A.M.. Their sluggish start and a gritty Spring Arbor squad were too much for St. Ambrose to overcome as they dropped their second straight.

In the loss, freshman Jake Miller continued his hot hitting by rapping two singles. Chris Seibel and Chad Jones also chipped in with two hits apiece. Senior Mike Tunning pitched well but took the loss in his first start since an elbow injury cut his junior year short.

If there was a scoreboard at the back fields of the Homestead Complex, the operator would have worked up a sweat during the 3 hour 35 minute slugfest.

The two teams combined to use eight different pitchers, score 30 runs and rap out 35 hits. Even though St. Ambrose clubbed 21 of those hits, it "only" equated to 13 runs in the loss.

The silver lining in the loss was the breakout of the St. Ambrose offense. Bob Spadoni, Jake Miller, Justin Siefken, Chad Jones, Mike Miller, Matt Gluplznyski and Joe Murray all had at least two hits in the 17-13 loss.
