When the final Mid-States Football Association Players of the Week honors were released on Monday, John McDowell's name was listed as the offensive selection. The quote from http://www.naiafootball.net read this:
"The numbers aren't earth shattering, but McDowell performed in the clutch. He hit Joe DuPage on a 28-yard scoring pass with no time left to rally St. Ambrose to a 26-20 victory over previously unbeaten McKendree. The win enabled St. Ambrose to clinch a share of its third straight Midwest League title and advance to the NAIA playoffs … McDowell was 14 of 24 passing for 277 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. With St. Ambrose leading 14-13 in the fourth quarter, McDowell went 18 yards for a touchdown with 4:55 left in the game. He had 9 carries for 34 yards rushing."
This is the second time that McDowell has received the honor with the first coming on his September 22nd performance vs. Tri-State. This is the fourth time that a Fighting Bees player has received the honor (Brandon Adolphs the other two times). Return to the Football Homepage |
