DAVENPORT,
Iowa NAIAFootball.net announced its annual preseason poll Tuesday with
the release of its preseason magazine and ranked the St. Ambrose Fighting
Bees football team 24th best in the nation. The
Fighting Bees are one of four teams from the Mid-States Football
Association Midwest Division who are ranked in the Top 25, with another
Olivet Nazarene just missing the cut at No. 31. St.
Ambrose is picked to finish third in a conference that is considered,
one of the most sought after titles in the NAIA. The
Fighting Bees are looking to return to MSFA Midwest glory after a run of
four-straight conference titles spanning 2000-2003. The Fighting Bees just
missed their fifth straight last season, as they fell just short of
sharing the crown with McKendree. The
Fighting Bees return 10 starters to the 2005 team and will have to replace
some key positions, including running back. Joe Schimmel and Larry
Williams graduated after having standout seasons leaving their marks in
the record books. Quarterback Jeff Kietzman returns for a third season
under center and will look to add to his career numbers. Other
MSFA Midwest teams ranked in the NAIAFootball.net preseason poll are:
McKendree (No. 13), Trinity International (No. 19) and Saint Xavier (No.
25). NAIAFootball.net
is a production of Dannelly Media, which produces a quarterly magazine and
maintains www.naiafootball.net.
