Big Second Quarter Leads to Big  Win Over Waldorf

The 18th ranked Fighting Bees got out to a slower start than most people expected in Saturday's 31-3 victory over Waldorf in Forest City, Iowa. SAU waited until 1:20 remaining in the first quarter to score the first points of the game, when Tyler Driscoll ran six yards for the score.

St. Ambrose then scored 17 points in the second quarter. Driscoll scored his second TD of the game, from seven yards out, and quarterback Jeff Kietzman snuck it in from the one yard line. Evan Gutierrez added a 37 yard field goal, and SAU went to the locker room with a 24-0 lead.

The second half kickoff was fumbled by Waldorf's Dan Steffen and picked up by Brock Dodson, who rumbled 15 yards into the end zone to cap off SAU's scoring.

Waldorf finally got on the board with a 32 yard field goal in the third quarter, but it wasn't enough, as the Warriors couldn't overcome their five turnovers.

Waldorf struggled all day in the passing game, throwing for just 66 yards between Robert Cox and Michael Lewis. They also combined to throw two interceptions. DeQuinn Watford and Justin Thompson were the recipients of those errant passes for SAU.

The Fighting Bees are now 2-0 on the season. They will play host to Taylor University next Saturday at 1:00 in Brady Street Stadium.
