Fighting Bees One Win Away From Conference Title
Everything was on for the St. Ambrose
Fighting Bees (17-13, 7-4) on Senior Day as they defeated the Iowa
Wesleyan Tigers (18-12, 7-5) by a final score of 91-73.
Led by four players in double figures,
the Fighting Bees shot 72.4% in the first half to give them a 54-31
halftime lead.
Karl Petersen led the way
for the Fighting Bees scoring 21 points, grabbed five rebounds, five
blocks, three assists and two steals. Matt Fitzpatrick was not to
far behind with 18 points. Tom Pavljasevic scored 17 points to bring
his career total to 1,017. Jason Geering added ten
points.
Pavljasevic and Geering
as well as Joe Barrer all were honored before the game as they played
their last regular season home game at Lee Lohman Arena.
The Tigers were led by a
25 point performance by Nic Wilson. Adam Stringer added 14 points on
the night where the Tigers got with as many as ten late in the second
half.
The Fighting Bees control
their own destiny with the final conference games to be played Monday
night. The Fighting Bees will travel to Cedar Rapids to face off
against Mt. Mercy, with a victory the Fighting Bees would be crowned MCC
regular season champs, as they hold the tie breaker. The game will
tip off at 5:30 p.m.
