Fighting Bees Light It Up
After dropping a heartbreaker just as short as four weeks
ago, the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees (14-12, 5-3) lit up the William Penn
Statesmen (11-16, 3-4) by a final score of 116-76, to avenge the 86-77 loss
at William Penn on January 15th.
Leading the Fighting Bees were five players in double
figures, heading that list was Tom Pavljasevic, who had 27 points, seven
boards and four assists. Karl Petersen came away with a double-double,
adding 21 points and ten rebounds.
Also in double figures were Chad Tancil who had 13 points
and five assists; Matt Fitzpatrick had 12 points, seven assists and three
steals on the day. Ryan Johnson also chimed in ten points and six
assists.
The Fighting Bees also set a school record as the made all
24 of their free throws. This set a school record for free throw
shooting percentage in a game.
The Statesmen were led by Jason Beall, he scored 22 points
in 29 minutes of play, while Julian Assibey scored 15.
The Fighting Bees will now hit the road for two games,
first taking on conference leading Viterbo on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m.
and then to Grand View on Saturday the 15th, that game starts at 1:00
p.m. The Fighting Bees will return home on the 19th to take on
non-conference foe East-West (7:30 p.m.)and then home again for a return
to MCC action on the 22nd to take on the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers, (1:00
p.m.). The 22nd is also alumni weekend.
