Twice As Nice

Boxscore

DAVENPORT, IOWA- For the second time in seven days, the No. 18 St. Ambrose Fighting Bees defeated Barat College. This time St. Ambrose defeated the Bulldogs by the score of  99-77. Junior Ryan Johnson played his best game as a Bee, as he recorded a career high 21 points and nine rebounds.

Barat crawled out to an early 10-9 lead, but that would be the last time the Fighting Bees would trail. Over the next ten minutes of the game, St. Ambrose outscored Barat 26-11 after a Karl Petersen basket to push the lead to 35-21. The Bees would maintain the lead over the final seven minutes of the first half and took a 53-40 advantage at the break.

The Bees kept the pressure coming in the second half, as they extended the lead to 25 points following a Johnson 3-pointer with 15:21 remaining. Fro that point on, Barat was not able to get the Fighting Bees lead under 19 points. Freddy Lofombo put the exclamation point on the game with a thunderous tip-dunk with 1:30 remaining to bring the crowd to their feet and give the Bees a 99-77 victory.

Matt Fitzpatrick scored 15 points, while Brett Jacobs and Petersen added 11 each. Chad Tancil and Curtis Clark also scored in double figures with 10 points a piece.
