Bees Sweep Pepsi Challenge

IOWA- The No. 10 St.
Ambrose Fighting Bees won their seventh straight game with a 98-74 victory
over Kendall College. With the victory, the Fighting Bees recorded a sweep
in the Pepsi Challenge.
Once again,
the Fighting Bees lit the nets on fire, as they shot 64.7% in the first
half. St. Ambrose led 40-19 only 13 minutes into the game. Kendall cut the
lead to 15 at the half, with the Bees leading 53-38.
The Fighting
Bees did not let up in the second half, by extending their lead to 27
points. Kendall's Chris Smith, who had a game high 30 points, got into
foul trouble midway through the second half and could never get a comeback
going.
St. Ambrose
shot 58.5% for the field, including 14 of 25 from behind the arc en route
to the 98-74 victory.
Twelve
Fighting Bees scored on the night, led by Karl Petersen and Chad Tancil
with 17 points a piece. Brett Jacobs added 14 and Ryan Johnson chipped in
with 10. Nine different Fighting Bees hit a 3-pointer on the night.
Over the two
day invitational, St. Ambrose hit 24 of 50 3-pointers for a 48% shooting
percentage and a 20.5 average margin of victory over two high quality
opponents.
Karl Petersen and Chad Tancil led four Fighting Bees into
double figures with 17 points each. Brett Jacobs had 14 points and 10
rebounds and Ryan Johnson added 10. Matt Fitzpatrick posted a career high
14 assists.
