Bees Win Sixth Straight

IOWA- For the second
time in two days, the No. 10 St. Ambrose Fighting Bees defeated a ranked
NCAA Division III opponent. The Fighting Bees defeated No. 24 Ripon 87-70
in the first day of the Pepsi Challenge.
St. Ambrose
started the game shooting the lights out, as they jumped out to a quick 11
point lead. From that point on they never looked back, taking a 42-23 lead
into the half.
The second
half was no different than the first, with the Fighting Bees extending
their lead to as much as 29. Ripon chipped the lead away to 18 on two
occasions, but the Fighting Bees upped the lead back to 25 both times.
Late in the game, Ripon trimmed the lead to 15, but would never get any
closer, as the Bees won their sixth consecutive game.
Karl Petersen
led five Bees in double figures with 17. Chad Tancil added 12 points, Ryan
Johnson had 12 and Nick Ferreira and Brett Jacobs added 11 each. Matt
Fitzpatrick added 13 assists.
The Fighting
Bees made 30 of their 58 shots, including 10 of 25 from behind the arc.
