Bees Survive First Half Scare to Win Second Game of the Season

The No. 18 St. Ambrose
Fighting Bees notched their second win of the season, despite a first half
scare by the visiting Trinity International Trojans.
The Bees (2-0) out scored the Trojans 50-39 (0-4) in the second
half to win 83-65.
Forward Brett Jacobs led the Bees with 17 points.
Also in double figures were Ryan Johnson (17) and
Davenport Central graduate Karl Petersen, who had 15 points and a
team-high 9 boards.
The Bees jumped out to a 16-6 lead and made their
first 10-of-12 shots before going a little bit flat.
To close out the first half, the Fighting Bees only managed to
score three points in the final 6 minutes and 23 seconds.
They led 33-26 behind their best defensive half of
this early season.
The Bees led 53-46 with 12 minutes and 21 seconds to
go in the second half when they went on a 23-7 run to put them up 23 and
the Trojans out of the game.
Leading all scorers was the Trojans Bobby Brown who
had 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The Fighting Bees will now move on to host this
weekends St. Ambrose Classic held at Lee Lohman Arena.
The Bees will take on the Barat Bulldogs in the second game with
the Grand View Vikings taking on the Bethel (IN) Pilots in the first game,
which tips of at 5:30 p.m.
