Fighting Bees Win 13th
Straight Despite Scare
The number two ranked St. Ambrose Fighting Bees continued its
march through the Midwest Classic Conference with a 94-87 victory over the
Mt. Mercy Mustangs on Saturday.
The win was the 13th in a row and has improved the
Bees to 28-3 overall and 12-1 in the MCC.
Six Fighting Bees were in double figures, led by junior Ryan
Johnson’s 18 points. Matt Fitzpatrick (14), Karl Petersen (13), Curtis
Clark (13), Chad Tancil (10) and Freddy Lofombo (10) were also in double
figures.
The Mustangs hit 11 of its first 13 shots to jump out to a
26-10 lead. The Bees slowly chipped away at the lead and took a 42-41 lead
into the locker room.
The Bees used a 16-6 run midway through the second half to
build its lead to 17, from there they never looked back.
The Mustangs, who shot 57.6-percent from the field, were led
by Brian Buerman’s 17 points.
