Bees
Lose In High Scoring Affair MOUNT PLEASANT, IA- The Fighting Bees shot 42% Wednesday night against Iowa Wesleyan, but it was not enough, as the Tigers won 104-100, in part because of their 50% shooting. It was a run and gun atmosphere with both teams firing at will. St. Ambrose (13-11, 5-2) out rebounded the Tigers (18-5, 4-3) 53-36, but this game wasn't won down low. It was won on the perimeter. Chris Washington, coming off a career high 34 points during his last outing, managed to outdue himself, scoring 36, while shooting 15 for 23 from the field. Ryan Johnson narrowly missed a double double for the Fighting Bees, scoring 22 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Brandin Smith had one of his best games of the season, scoring a season high 18 and pulling down nine boards. As hot as SAU was shooting the ball, Iowa Wesleyan was that much hotter, shooting 47% from beyond the arc. They had five different players score in double figures. Dale Iwanicki led the way with 26. Nathan Lange contributed with a strong effort of 19 points and ten rebounds. Adam Stringer scored 15 and handed out five assists. Mike Coleman and Jesse Hill scored 13 and 11, respectively. The Tigers recorded 27 assists compared to just eight for St. Ambrose. SAU will try to begin a new winning streak on Saturday when they'll face Viterbo at Lee Lohman Arena. Their game will begin at 3:00, preceded by the women's contest. Return to the Men's Basketball |
