Bees Rout Mount Mercy DAVENPORT, IA- The weather outside was bitter cold, but inside Lee Lohman Arena Sunday, Chris Washington was just the opposite, scorching the nets for a career high 34 points in St. Ambrose's 85-69 victory over Mount Mercy. Washington came out firing, scoring 18 points in the first eight minutes. He also scored 20 of the team's first 30 points, as SAU (13-10, 5-1) led the Mustangs (14-8, 4-2) 55-31 at halftime. Washington, who made five of six three pointers, also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out four assists to keep the Bees in a first place tie atop the MCC standings. Two other players scored in double figures for the Fighting Bees. Ryan Johnson had 15 points on the day, while collecting six rebounds. Fellow senior Nick Ferreira chipped in with 13 points, while showing his defensive prowess, blocking two shots, while grabbing two steals as well. SAU shot 85% from the free throw line. Mount Mercy was never really in the game, falling behind early by double digits. The Mustangs were led by Marquis Scott, who scored 25 points, including five three pointers. Scott also contributed with four rebounds and three assists. Matt Spreaker helped out with 13 points and three assists. SAU's next game will be Wednesday, as they'll travel to Mount Pleasant, Iowa to take on Iowa Wesleyan. That game will begin at 7:30. Return to the Men's Basketball |
