Bees Drop Second Straight in SAU Classic

DAVENPORT, IA- The second day of the SAU Classic men's basketball tournament brought the same result for St. Ambrose as Day number one--a loss.  The Fighting Bees went down in defeat Saturday to 27th ranked Taylor University 73-53 dropping their record to 1-2.  They managed to play the Trojans tough for most of the first half, trailing 29-22 at the intermission, but Taylor pulled away in the second half behind the shooting of guard Eric Ford who finished with 25 points on 10 of 17 shooting, including 3 three pointers.  Doug Bell had 24 points for the Trojans, who improve to 3-1 this season.

SAU's Ryan Johnson tried to keep the Bees in the game, as he finished with a team high 20 points and was the only Bee to score in double figures.  Chris Washington was second in scoring with nine points, while also dishing out four assists.  Washington was also swarming around the ball all game, recording five steals.

The Fighting Bee's shot just 38% from the field for the entire game, while Taylor made 52% of their shots.  Taylor shot lights out in the second half, shooting 67% from the field, while outscoring St. Ambrose 44 to 31 after halftime.

St. Ambrose will try to regain their winning ways November 19th at The Franciscan Tournament in Clinton, IA.
