12/17/05 - SAU (6-6) at Olivet Nazarene (7-6)
Shovlain vs. Olivet Nazarene: The Fighting
Bees hold a 10-5 advantage in coach Ray Shovlain’s 22-plus years at SAU.
Last Meeting: St. Ambrose is out for
revenge Saturday, as they’ll hope to avenge their 83-64 loss to Olivet
Nazarene in their season opening game this year. The Tigers came away with
the victory at Lee Lohman Arena thanks to Stan Chismark’s 19 points and 12
rebounds. Travis Meeks led all scorers with 20 points for the Tigers. The
Fighting Bees were led by Ante Juric, who came off the bench to score 17
points, on six of seven shooting.Andrew Bryant scored ten in his SAU
debut. Olivet dominated SAU on the boards, outrebounding the Fighting Bees
45-20.
SAU’s Last Time Out: St. Ambrose
scored the most points they’ve scored all season, as they defeated Buena
Vista (IA) 95-79. Ricky Mojek scored a career high 18 points for the
Fighting Bees, while adding five steals. Ante Juric scored 16, while
Brandin Smith added 13, on six of seven shooting. Andrew Bryant recorded
his recorded his sixth double-double of the season, scoring ten points,
while pulling down 12 rebounds.
Looking Ahead: The Fighting Bees
have what is always a tough test ahead of them. Their next three games
will come December 21-23 as they’ll travel to Chicago to take part in the
Saint Xavier Tournament.
Keep It Going: The Fighting Bees are looking for their second
two game winning streak of the season with a win at Olivet. SAU has not
played well after a win all season. The Fighting Bees are 1-4 in games
after a win.
All Or Nothing: Senior Tyler Ryan ranks eleventh in the Midwest
Classic Conference in three-point shooting, making 40% of his shots from
beyond the arc, but it’s been a case of go big, or don’t go at all for
Ryan. The guard from New Windsor, Illinois has made 29 field goals this
season, 20 of which have come from behind the three-point line.
Turnovers a Plus: St. Ambrose doesn’t lead in many categories when
compared to thier opponents. They do however hold a distinct advantage in
the turnover battle. SAU has a turnover margin of 2.4 so far this year.
Make His a Triple: Stan Chismark has been playing great ball lately
for the Tigers, and had maybe his best game of the season in ONU’s last
game, a 106-48 win over East-West. Chismark recorded a triple-doulble in
the victory. The forward from Normal, Illinois recorded 14 points, eleven
rebounds, and ten assists.
Home Sweet Home: Olivet Nazarene probably wishes every game was
played in Bourbonnais. The Tigers are 4-0 at home this year. They are
averaging 91 points in those four games.
