SAU Signs Krueger

St. Ambrose University Women’s Softball Coach Bridget Murphy is excited to announce the signing of one of the top high school softball players from Western Illinois.

Melissa Krueger, a senior at Rockridge High School (Illinois) has signed a letter of intent and will attend St. Ambrose in the fall of 2006.  She is the daughter of Don and Michelle Krueger of Illinois City, Illinois.

During her junior season at Rockridge, Krueger was the starting pitcher for the undefeated Olympic Conference Champions and 2005 Class A State Champions.  She was also named Most Valuable Player of the 2005 State tournament and received the Dale Matlick Award for the 2005 season as well.  In addition to receiving All-Olympic Conference 1st team honors in 2003, 2004, and 2005, Krueger was named All Western Illinois Player of the Year in the 2004 and 2005 seasons.  She was also honored in 2003, 2004, and 2005 as a recipient of the Chamber of Commerce Academic Achievement Award.

“We are very pleased to have a player the caliber of Melissa Krueger joining our softball program next season,” said Coach Murphy.  “She will bring experience and confidence to our team next fall, and we are fortunate to have her not only as a player but as a person.”
