SAU Signs Krueger
St. Ambrose University Women’s Softball Coach Bridget
Murphy is excited to announce the signing of one of the top high school
softball players from Western Illinois.
Melissa Krueger, a senior at Rockridge High School
(Illinois) has signed a letter of intent and will attend St. Ambrose in
the fall of 2006. She is the daughter of Don and Michelle Krueger of
Illinois City, Illinois.
During her junior season at Rockridge, Krueger was
the starting pitcher for the undefeated Olympic Conference Champions and
2005 Class A State Champions. She was also named Most Valuable Player of
the 2005 State tournament and received the Dale Matlick Award for the 2005
season as well. In addition to receiving All-Olympic Conference 1st
team honors in 2003, 2004, and 2005, Krueger was named All Western
Illinois Player of the Year in the 2004 and 2005 seasons. She was also
honored in 2003, 2004, and 2005 as a recipient of the Chamber of Commerce
Academic Achievement Award.
“We are very pleased to have a player the caliber of
Melissa Krueger joining our softball program next season,” said Coach
Murphy. “She will bring experience and confidence to our team next fall,
and we are fortunate to have her not only as a player but as a person.”
