SAU recently signed two more local high school athletes to compete for
the Bees during the 2007 season. Monmouth's Dustin Renwick signed with
SAU on May 3rd, while Mitch Stoermer, who's a native of Morrison signed
on May 15th. They will both bring a lot to the track next season.
Renwick plans to help SAU in the hurdles and
jumping events. Renwick was the team captain this season for Monmouth
High School, while also being named academic all-conference during the
past two years. Renwick finished eighth in the 55 meter high hurdles
during the Illinois prep top times at the indoor state tournament in
2006.
Morrison High School's Stoermer has
committed to the SAU track program to compete in the jumping and
sprinting events. Stoermer, who was also a member of Morrison's
football, basketball, and baseball team will bring his great athleticism
to the team next season.
"We look forward to having Mitch and Dustin
join our program next spring. They will both be huge assets in our
jumping and sprinting events. We hope to help them get the most out of
their experience at St. Ambrose," said
head track and field coach Brianne Appel.
