Queen Bees Fall to No. 13
Concordia
In the opening day of the Hastings Tournament held in
Hastings, NE, the No. 16 St. Ambrose Queen Bees (2-3) fell to the No. 13
Concordia, Neb., Bulldogs (4-0) by a final score of 98-71.
Leading the Queen Bees were Kate Tuttle and Amy Van
Dyke. Tuttle went 3-for-4 from beyond the arc and finished with a team
high 18 points. Van Dyke scored 12 while shooting 4-for-6 from the field.
Despite going 1-for-9 from the field, Angie Schinstock was
8-for-8 from the free throw line, scoring 10 points and recorded nine
rebounds, just shy of a double-double.
Freshman center, Ali Rorah is still trying to find her
groove with her new team. Rorah was 2-for-10 from the field scoring
four points and grabbing seven rebounds in 19 minutes of play.
The Queen Bees were out shot on the night as they managed
a team total of 26-63 from the field compared to the Bulldogs 41-88
shooting. The Queen Bees were also out rebounded by 13 with the
Bulldogs coming away with 47 total rebounds (18 offensive).
Leading the Bulldogs were four different players, all
scoring in double figures. Heading the list was Kari Saving.
Saving scored a game high 19 points while grabbing ten rebounds and
dishing out three assists.
Sarah Harrison, Jonie Ficken and Elizabeth Rhoden scored
15, 13, and ten points, respectively. Harrison came away with seven
rebounds. Rhoden had a game high five assists.
The Queen Bees will continue in the tournament today and
tomorrow as it is not an elimination tournament.
