Queen Bees fight off TrojansThe Queen Bees fought off the Trinity International Trojans on Monday night by the score of 75-65. The game started out very sloppy and continued that way throughout. The two teams combined for 60 turnovers (Queen Bees had 31 and Trinity had 29). The Queen Bees took a 22-14 lead with 9:35 in the first half, when Coach Eskliden got a technical foul called on him. This sparked the Queen Bees the rest of the half as they suffocated the Trojans with a full court press and went on a 19-8 run to close out the first half. Angie Schinstock scored 12 first half points along with 9 rebounds to get the Queen Bees out to a 41-22 halftime lead. The Trojans came out in the second half and cut the lead down to 12 points with 13 minutes to play. The Queen Bees lead then dropped to 9, when Kerri Alvine hit a three point shot assisted by Brooke Vallejo to put the Queen Bees up by 12 with 8:30 remaining. The Queen Bees never looked back at this point and closed out the game with a 75-65 victory. Angie Schinstock kept up her great play as she finished the game with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Kate Tuttle played excellent defense for the Queen Bees, coming up with a career high 9 steals and chipped in 12 points. Amy Van Dyke played a good all-around game adding 10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Emily Whitfield led the way for the Trojans with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Michelle Whelan and Nicole Jara each added 12 points. The Trojans held the Queen Bees to 37% from the field, but were out-rebounded 48-34. The Queen Bees travel to LaCrosse, WI this weekend to play in the LaCrosse Tournament. They will play on Friday and Saturday.
