Queen Bees Dominate From Start to Finish

Domination was the case at Lee Lohman Arena on Wednesday night, as the Queen Bees stormed out of the gate and never looked back. The Queen Bees(13-11, 3-1) came ready to play Wednesday night with an  81-60 victory over the Viterbo V-Hawks(6-15, 2-1).

The Queen Bees began the game with a 7-0 run to set the pace. The V-Hawks were never able to get back on their feet, as the Queen Bees ended the half on a 12-4 run to take a 36-21 lead into the half.

The second half was no different than the first, as the Queen Bees extended the lead to 22 as Kellie Metz converted a three point play with 15:02 remaining. Viterbo was able to chip the lead down to 14 with 3:01 remaining, but the Queen Bees were too much in the end, as they closed the game out on an 11-4 run for the 81-60 victory.  

The game was dictated by great shooting from the Queen Bees, as they shot 57% from the field. Rebounding was also a determining factor as the Queen Bees pulled down 37 boards, including 12 offensive, compared to 21 by the V-Hawks.

Four Queen Bees posted double figures in scoring, as Kellie Metz led the way with 17 points. Angie Schinstock scored 15 points and 7 rebounds, Michelle Kurth added 12 points with 8 rebounds and Kate Tuttle threw in 11 points. Viterbo was led by Shelly Brueggen with 18 points and Anne Wilson added 17.

Notes:

Prior to tip-off, Angie Schinstock and Kellie Metz were presented with 1,000 point balls. The tandem became the 22nd and 23rd members of this prestigious club. Kate Tuttle also holds one of the spots, as she currently ranks 6th among Queen Bee greats. Former coach Robin Becker holds the school record with 2,502.

The Queen Bees are back in action on Saturday, as they travel to Mt. Pleasant, IA to take on the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers at 1:00.
