Queen Bees drop second straight

CLINTON, IOWA- The No. 12 St. Ambrose Queen Bees lost their second consecutive game, as No. 19 Northwestern defeated them 77-53.

 

The Queen Bees jumped out to an early 8-7 lead, but that was the last lead they would have. Northwestern went on a 17-3 run over the next 6:40 to take a 24-11 lead. The Queen Bees could not gain any ground before the half, as they trailed 36-24 going into the break.

 

St. Ambrose made a run to begin the second half by cutting the Northwestern lead to six with 13:36 remaining, but then gave up ten consecutive points in 3:15 of play. 

 

The Queen Bees could never regain their footing, as they could never get within 14 points of Northwestern. Angie Schinstock led the Queen Bees with 18 points and nine rebounds. Kellie Metz added 13 points. In her first career start, Freshman Jennifer Goetz scored 10 points and added eight rebounds. St. Ambrose was held to 31% shooting from the field.
