Goetz leads Queen Bees with triple-double to clinch MCC title

DAVENPORT, IOWA- The St. Ambrose Queen Bees (22-8, 11-1) clinched the MCC regular season title with an 87-83 win over Grand View. Jennifer Goetz had a career night, as she posted the first ever triple-double in Coach Eskildsen's tenure. Goetz scored 11 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 10 assists.

Following a sluggish start, in which the Queen Bees trailed 8-0, Angie Schinstock and Goetz led St. Ambrose to a 25-7 run and a 10-point lead. The Queen Bees extended the lead to as many as 15, but the Vikings scored 12 of the final 15 points to cut the halftime lead to six.

St. Ambrose came out of the locker room ready to go in the second half by scoring 9 of the first 11 points to up the lead to 13. Grand View was able to get the lead into single digits on a few occasions, but trailed by 10 with just over two minutes left. The Vikings converted on six of eight free throws over the next 1:30 to trim the Bee lead to four with :33 left, but Maggie Hughes knocked down four clutch free throws to seal the game and the MCC title for the Queen Bees.

Schinstock recorded her 15th double-double of the year with 26 points adn14 boards. Kellie Metz added points and Cathy Mangan had 10. Michelle Kurth came off the bench with 10 points.

Amber Johnson led Grand View with 19 points and Sarah Francis added 18.
