Bees win fourth straight DAVENPORT, IOWA- The Queen Bees kept the streak alive with a 69-63 over William Penn. The win was the fourth in a row for the Bees and their sixth in seven tries.
St. Ambrose started where they left off from Saturday's performance, jumping out to an 11-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game. The lead quickly diminished, as Kristina McNew scored 9 of the next 11 points to cut the lead to four. The Bees regained their footing and went on an 8-2 run, capped off by an Angie Schinstock layup to take a 21-9 lead. William Penn trimmed the lead to six as Jessica Nelson hit a 3-pointer with :09 left and the Bees took a 35-29 lead into the half.
William Penn scored the first five points of the second half to cut the lead to 35-34 and eventually tied the game at 39 with 15:31 left. St. Ambrose wouldn't give in and went on a 14-4 run to go up 53-43 with 7:22 remaining. That lead would also quickly evaporate, as Penn scored 12 of the next 15 points to cut the lead to one with 3:16 left. Jennifer Goetz retaliated with a key 3-point play, but Nelson came right back with a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 59-58 with 2:36 left.
The Bees kept their composure and sophomore Ali Rorah hit a layup to give the Bees a three point lead and then she closed Penn out with another basket to extend the lead to five with :53 left. The Bees held on for a 69-63 win and move to 2-0 in conference play.
Schinstock led four Queen Bees into double figures with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Goetz added 14 points, seven rebounds and assists. Kellie Metz scored 14 points and Cathy Mangun added 11. McNew led Penn with 20.
