Queen Bees Split
Pair At Grace Tournament In the first game, on Friday, SAU had their hands full with a tough Cedarville (7-0) squad, losing 85-36. The Queen Bees managed just 18 points in each half. Cathy Mangan, Michelle Kurth, and Ali Rorah led the way with six points each. SAU shot just 25% in the game, compared to Cedarville's 53% shooting. Cedarville was led by Kari Flunker and Brittany Smart, who had 18 and 17 points respectively. The Yellow Jackets were putting pressure on the Queen Bees all night long, forcing 32 turnovers. In the second game, on Saturday, St. Ambrose turned it around in a big way, defeating the host Grace Lancers 81-43. Sophomore Cathy Mangan had a great all-around day, scoring 16 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and dishing off four assists. Jennifer Goetz led all scorers with 24 points. She also added eight rebounds and three assists. SAU never quit, outscoring Grace on second chance points 21-3. Amber Riffell led the way for Grace with15 points. The team shot just 4 of 18 from the field during the second half, as St. Ambrose (4-3) was never challenged. Next up for the Queen Bees will be UW-Platteville on Tuesday. That game will begin at 7:00 in Platteville.
