Defense Keys Queen Bee Win

MOUNT PLEASANT, IA- St. Ambrose made up for their poor shooting with a lot of defense Wednesday, as they defeated Iowa Wesleyan 58-50.  The Queen Bees (14-11, 4-3) shot just 27%, and 20% from three point range, but also collected 13 steals and seven blocks, while only turning the ball over 14 times.  Iowa Wesleyan (6-17, 2-5) turned it over on 24 occasions.

Jennifer Goetz led the charge for St. Ambrose with 20 points and 16 rebounds.  Cathy Mangan also scored in double figures with ten points.  She also recorded three steals.  SAU's bench out scored Iowa Wesleyan's 21-10.  Kerri Alvine scored eight points as a reserve.

Iowa Wesleyan trailed by just one point at the half.  They were led by Allison Falls, who was the only Lady Tiger to score in double figures, with 20 points.  She also had eight rebounds.  Camrion Carolan helped out by grabbing a team high twelve boards.

SAU returns home on Saturday, as they'll square off against Viterbo.  Game time is set for 1:00.
