SAU Loses To Viterbo 1/8/05 St. Ambrose (11-9, 1-1) shot 50% in the first half, as they led by three at the half. Viterbo (6-14, 1-1) then used a 21-8 run in the second half to take the lead for good with 8:25 remaining.
SAU was led by the continued stellar play of sophomore Jennifer Goetz. Coming off a game in which she tied a career high, Goetz set a new career high Saturday, scoring 30 points on 11 for 16 shooting, to go along with nine rebounds. That was more than half of SAU's offensive output for the game. Michelle Kurth was the only other Queen Bee to score in double figures, finishing with ten points.
Viterbo only turned the ball over ten times in the victory. Anne Wilson scored a season high 29 points for the V-Hawks, while pulling down nine rebounds. Brianna Kappen chipped in with 17 points, while Shelly Brueggen scored eleven. Viterbo outscored SAU in the second half, 41-29.
The Queen Bees will try to get back on the winning track Wednesday when they'll travel to Oskaloosa, IA to play William Penn. That game will begin at 5:30.
