SAU Holds Off Lady Statesmen

1/12/05

Box Score

OSKALOOSA, IA- The Queen Bees were neck and neck with William Penn the whole game Wednesday, in a contest that included four ties and eight lead changes.  SAU finally pulled it out in the end, 59-55 in part because of a couple big three pointers late in the game.

St. Ambrose (12-9, 2-1) was led by Michelle Kurth's game high 14 points.  Kurth also pulled down six rebounds while connecting on all eight of her free throws.  Jennifer Goetz recorded yet another double double, scoring twelve, while pulling down 15 boards.  The Queen Bees also got a nice effort out of Kerri Alvine, who played her best game of the year.  Alvine came off the bench to score 13 points, including a big three pointer with under two minutes remaining.  She finished three for six from beyond the arc.

William Penn (5-14, 0-3) managed to stay in the game behind the scoring trio of Jenny Ogden, Kristina McNew, and Trista Kolder.  Ogden scored a team high twelve points, while collecting six rebounds and three assists.  McNew finished with eleven points and six boards, while Kolder ended up with ten points.

SAU's next contest will come Saturday when they return home to play Waldorf at 1:00.
