SAU Dominates the Saints

DAVENPORT, IA-  Thursday night was a great night to be a St. Ambrose Queen Bee.  SAU (11-8, 1-0) used 60% shooting in the first half to open an 18 point halftime lead, eventually defeating The Franciscan University (6-10, 0-1) 89-53.  Thirteen players scored for St. Ambrose in a game that really was never close.  The Queen Bees were all over the floor defensively, winning the turnover battle 28-14.

It was a career night for Sophomore Jennifer Goetz, who tied a career high in points, with 29, with 22 of those coming in the first half.  She also tied a career high for field goals made, finishing 12 for 15 from the floor.  She also added eight rebounds to go along with four assists and six steals.  Cathy Mangan scored eleven in the win, while also recording four assists.  Jena Zientek came off the bench to score eleven for the Queen Bees.  She also pulled down five boards.

The Franciscan was led by three players in double figures.  Megan VanHyfte scored eleven, while Melissa Harden and Megan Beelman each finished with ten points.  TFU shot just 34% in the game.

The Queen Bees will be back in action Saturday in La Cross, WI, as they'll take on Viterbo.
