Box Score
DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Queen Bees entered Wednesday's game against William
Penn still riding the momentum from Saturday's win against Viterbo, in
which SAU allowed the fewest point total this season, 39. Against the Lady
Statesmen, SAU continued right where they left off, defeating William Penn
75-45.
SAU never trailed in the ball game, as they
held William Penn to 18% shooting in the first half. The Lady Statesmen
made just 6 of their 33 attempts in the half. SAU also pressured WPU into
29 turnovers, which the Queen Bees turned into 25 points. SAU shot 50%
from the field in the first half, as they took a 22 point lead into the
locker room.
The second half was a little more tightly
contested than the first half, but it was too little, too late for William
Penn, as they could never recover from their poor first half shooting. All
16 players got into the game for St. Ambrose, while 14 players got in the
scoring column. SAU shot 47% for the game.
Jennifer Goetz led all scorers with 17
points, while also adding nine rebounds. Goetz scored the first basket of
the game, which moves her into ninth place on SAU's all-time scoring list
with 1,308 points in her stellar career. Cathy Mangan and Jill Sweeney
finished with seven and six points, respectively, while each player dished
out four assists. Ali Rorah scored six, while pulling down eight rebounds.
William Penn was led by Brittney Crocker
and Angela Bourrage, who each scored eight points. Jenny Ogden finished
with seven points and five rebounds.
SAU will now begin a three game road trip, beginning at Waldorf on
Saturday. Game time is set for 1:00 and will be followed by the men's game
against the Warriors.
