On May 5, 2005 Amy Eagan became the 8th head coach in St. Ambrose Women's basketball history. This is Eagan's first head coaching job of her career.
Eagan comes to SAU from Quincy University, where she served as an assistant for four years under head coach Larry Just. While at Quincy, the Lady Hawks' won back-to-back Great Lakes Valley Conference regular-season and tournament titles. They also earned a berth to the 2004 Elite Eight.
Before making the stop at Quincy, Eagan got her feet wet as Truman State's Graduate Assistant Coach in Kirksville, MO, where she was also a standout point guard. Eagan was co-captain during her last three years at Truman State, while earning first team All-Conference in 1997 and 1999, and first team All-South Central Region in '99. Eagan was named to the NCAA Division II All-American team in 1999, when she helped lead her team to the Sweet Sixteen. Eagan graduated from Truman State in May 2001 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in exercise science, and a minor in health education.
After a stellar college career, Eagan played professionally in Asker, Norway for four months, while also coaching the Junior National team for the Asker women's basketball klubb.
Eagan was born in Shelbina, MO. She had a tremendous high school career at South Shelby High School, where she was named to the Missouri Class 2A all-state team.
Eagan has four younger brothers and sisters, whom all reside in Missouri. In her spare time, Eagan enjoys working out and running, as well as other sports such as slow-pitch softball. She also enjoys being with her family and friends.
