SAU WOMEN'S SOCCER |
Ambrose falls to AugieDAVENPORT -- Games like these are what collegiate sports are all about, a cross-town rivalries.Unfortunately, the Bees could not answer what the visitors had to offer, and SAU fell to Augustana, 2-0. The Vikings scored a goal in each half and shut out the Bees to win 2-0 even though the attempts on goal would be even. “This was a game decided in the 18-yard box. We both had opportunities but the visitors where that little sharper around goal, and that was the difference on the day,” head coach Jon Mannall said. “I was very happy with the girls’ effort, and I thought we moved the ball well in the middle of the field. “We carved out some very good opportunities and a couple of one-on-ones that we just had to tuck away, especially in a big game like this. Their keeper made a couple of great saves and we hit the post. They are a good opposition and if we keep putting together performances like this, those opportunities will go in and we will find the success.” |
