SAU gets first winDAVENPORT -- The Queen Bees started their home schedule with a confident win against the visiting Hannibal La Grange.St. Ambrose recorded 26 shots and passed their way into a number of good scoring opportunities, before finishing off HLG, 4-1. “We where very encouraged with the number of opportunities that the girls created today,'' head coach Jon Mannall said.''It is important in early days of the season to be able to see where your goals will be coming from and we had a number of girls get in behind defenders to threaten the goal.'' The Bees went one up just before the half and made it 2 early in the second half, but the visitors battled back before the Bees wrapped up the game with a pair of late strikes. ''It was nice to get our advantage just before the half time, but Hannibal La Grange fought back well once the second one went in and we needed the work of Smithy upfront to finish this game out,'' Mannall said. ''Overall we are very happy to start out this way at home and collect our first win.'' |
