Demory on Tour (Year 1)

After experiencing his share of ups and downs
on the tour, Demory entered the final tournament series
within reach of his main goal: making half of the cuts and
finishing in the money. During week one at Black Bear Golf
Course, Demory tied for 56th place after rounds
of 69 and 76. At Rio Pinar Golf Course the next week, he
came in two over par and tied for 70th place.
After two discouraging weeks, he pulled through in his final
tournament of the tour, tying for 16th and
finishing in the money at the West Orange Golf Course.
Even though Demory ended up two cuts short of
reaching his goal, he looks back fondly on his first
professional golf experience. “I was ready for a new
challenge and a change of golf,” he says. “I had done the
amateur golf realm and I was ready to compete.”
Being a part of the tour gave Demory the
chance to learn from the pro-golfers around him each week.
He says he “picked up a lot of different things,” including
tips on his short game and how to play shots, as well as
learning about many aspects of the professional golf
environment.
Demory is already thinking of the things
he’ll miss when he returns from Florida around Easter. “I’ll
miss being on the tour on a regular basis; it gets you into
a good routine,” he says, even though he won’t miss the
differences Florida weather brings to his golf game, at all.
As for staying with his sister’s family during his time in
Orlando, he says, “It’s been very enjoyable watching my
niece grow up a little bit.”
Looking into the future, Demory has plans to
move back to the Midwest. While he isn’t going to jump into
another complete PGA tour right away, he has plans to
compete in PGA events in the area, including the John Deere
Classic and the Illinois Open.
And he’s still looking for backers for his
dream. For those interested in finding out more information
