Brandy Scheckel Simmons - Women's Basketball

Inducted into Hall of Fame in 2001

Brandy Scheckel, from the class of 1996, stood out not only on the basketball court, but also in her own scholastic endeavors and service opportunities. She played basketball for four years at Ambrose and currently ranks as the fifth leading scorer in SAU history. Scheckel was an NAIA first-team All-American in 1996 and was named a National Catholic Basketball Tournament All-American in 1995 and 1996.

A multi-faceted athlete, Scheckel's talents extended to volleyball, softball, and track while in high school. She earned 13 varsity letters and served as team captain on all four teams. Scheckel was an all-conference selection for each of her four sports and was an all-state performer in basketball and track.

Despite all of the commitments to athletics, Scheckel was also a campus leader.  She served as a student representative on the Athletic Board and as a tutor for the Academic Support Center. She  also participated with the Athletes in Action African Missions Tour. Academically, she was part of the PHI ETA SIGMA Honors Society and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She was an Academic All-American in 1995 and 1996 and graduated as the top female of her class with a 3.93/4.0 GPA

After receiving her BA from St. Ambrose, Scheckel went on to Graduate School from 1996-1999 and received her Master's degree in Physical Therapy. Scheckel stayed involved as a Student Physical Therapy Organization Alumni and Graduation Committee Member.

Scheckel now works at the Genesis Medical Center and lives in Davenport with her husband James.
