GL09-38 4/24/09 The Social Security Administration (SSA) St. Louis metro office is seeking a Summer Student Intern in St. Louis, MO. This is for any majors but applicants must have US citizenship, be continuing their education in the fall, have basic knowledge of computers, have basic typing skills, and must possess strong interpersonal and time management skills. The student selected will contribute to the Agency’s mission through direct and personal service to the public. The responsibilities will include assisting the public in person to establish proper evidence for Social Security card requirements. These contact will allow the student to obtain, clarify, and verify data used to analyze such requests and make decisions using state-of-the-art computer technology. Other duties will include general clerical work such as answering phones, filing, photocopying, opening and distributing mail, etc. This program enables students to earn money while continuing their academic studies and serves as a tool for heightening interest in a career in the Federal Government. Hourly pay $11.74 to $13.18 based on semester hours completed. GL09-31 4/7/09 The Friends of Vander Veer in Davenport is seeking a Marketing and Development Intern. Majors interested include English, Marketing, Business, Non-Profit Management, or Liberal Arts. The intern will assist with event planning, community events, fundraising, and marketing and promoting said events. Assist with data entry, donation and membership management. Dependent of comfort level, write an article for organizational newsletter and assist with production and editing of said newsletter. GL09-20 3/27/09 Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, IL is seeking applicants for the Island-wide Summer Hire Program. Students will receive consideration from any RIA organization participating in the program. Work is usually administrative in nature and varies by agency. GL09-21 3/27/09 Davenport Parks and Recreation is offering an internship for this summer. Specific duties and responsibilities include providing programming assistance for youth ages 5-13; providing positive mentoring for youth ages 5-13, and/or 14-17; interact with youth through play, games sports, and other age appropriate activities; providing feedback to both parents and participants about the progress of their student; developing fun programs for youth enrichment for out-of-school time programs; working with Youth Program Facilitator to set up programming; helping to facilitate Youth Camps during Winter, Spring, and Summer Breaks; working with Youth Program Facilitator to recruit volunteers for youth programs. GL/FI/MGMT 09-19 3/24/09 Davenport Parks and Recreation is seeking six summer intern in Administration. The technical skills include, among others, the ability to do statistical analysis, write accurate memos and reports, collect data scientifically, and make presentations to other staff, and formalize a report at the end of the assignment. The current openings are in ASSET INVENTORY AND ANALYSIS, URBAN TREE CANOPY STUDY, COST ANALYSIS AND LEVEL OF SERVICE STUDY, INFRASTRUCTURE REVIEW, COMMUNITY AND SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT SURVEYS, AND A MARKETING AND PROMOTION STUDY. The six assignments will require academic concentration in any of statistics, sociology, sports management, leisure studies, economics, marketing, business, accounting, and public administration. GL09-18 3/24/09 WQAD Channel 8 in Moline is seeking a summer intern in their Business Communications department. Business and Communication majors are preferred.  Interns should have business communication experience with Microsoft Office especially Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator or HTML a plus. Intern will help with marketing and advertising campaign presentations to local businesses and assist with contests and promotions. GL09-17 3/24/09 City of Davenport Parks and Recreation is seeking an intern in their environmental education horticulture division. This can be for spring, fall, or summer for 20 hours a week. Internship will be creating and delivering environmental education programs under the environmental education supervisor in aquatics, nature concepts and other urban environmental lessons. Development of specific curriculum project for city parks to include program development and delivery. Intern will work with a variety of age levels. Experience teaching children; experience with public speaking; computer proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience working with volunteers, but not necessary. GL09-28 3/20/09 Kirkendall Public Library is seeing an intern in their Youth & Children’s Department for the summer of 2009. This is a three month internship in Ankeny, IA. Duties include working with the Youth and Children’s Librarians to carry out all necessary tasks related to the summer reading program. The internship is 40 hours per week fro 12 weeks, both day and evening hours, with an hourly wage of $9.00 per hour. Students in possible areas of study that would benefit from this internship include Child Life Specialist, Child Development, Elementary Education, Pre-School Education, Library Science, and Social Work, and/or related fields. GL09-14 3/6/09 American Red Cross is seeking a Health Fair Intern for this summer. The position will be from May until July or August. Minimum time requirement each week is 10-15 hours. This intern will be working in Health and Safety Services and will be planning, coordinating and implementing a summer health fair at Century Woods Apartments in Rock Island. Will coordinate communications between Century Woods staff and Red Cross, contact agencies to participate in the event, responsibility for all logistics on the day of the event, and following up the event, contacting agencies for evaluation. GL09-11 3/6/09 American Red Cross is seeking a Picnic on the River Intern. This intern will be assisting with the planning, coordination, and implementation of the Picnic on the River annual fundraiser. Intern will be coordinating basket auctions, helping with logistics set-up the day before the event, distributing materials to committee members, preparing a spreadsheet and inventory list of supplies and baskets, and assisting Communications Director in publicizing.  Must be able to work efficiently with minimal supervision, organized and detail oriented, follow assignments, and dealing with a wide variety of people. The event is held the fourth Sunday in June. This is an unpaid internship; dates are negotiable starting in April or May. Minimum time requirement each week is 12 hours. GL09-13 3/6/09 The Whitehouse Internship Program is looking to hire an intern for the summer of 2009 (from May 22 to August 14). Those interested must be US citizens, Eighteen years of age on or before the first day of the internship, enrolled in a college/university (2-4 year institution), or must have graduated from college in the past two years. This program will mentor and cultivate young leaders of today and tomorrow. In addition to normal office duties, interns will supplement their learning experience by attending a weekly lecture series hosted by senior White House staff. GL09-15 3/3/09 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society-Eastern Iowa Office in Iowa City, Iowa is seeking an intern in the Events Management Department. This internship is for the summer of 2009. Student must have an interest in non-profit work, public relations, fund raising, event planning, marketing or communications.  Need experience in MS Word, Excel, and Publisher (Preferred).  Strong organizational skills, able to multi-task and work independently.  Intern needs to be able to build effective relationships with volunteers and the community.  Student will need access to transportation, computer and possibly fax machine.  Will assist with Chapter and Branch fundraising efforts, Assist with e-newsletter, mailings and correspondence, Assist with event planning (light the night walk) and committee meetings.   Intern will distribute supplies and materials to QC volunteers.  Meet with Coordinator monthly for briefings and updates. GL09-12 3/3/09 Buckle in Kearney, Nebraska is seeking a Sales and Management Intern. This applies to Managing, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Fashion Merchandising, and Communication majors. College juniors or seniors preferred. This internship can be full or part-time and the semester is yet to be determined. Skills required are excellent communication skills, an interest in fashion, an open-minded, outgoing personality, and enthusiasm. The pay has yet to be determined as well. GL09-10 1/15/09  PUBLIC RELATIONS/MARKETING INTERN This paid summer internship is instrumental in executing the public relations and media relations that promote the Des Moines Menace, Iowa’s premier soccer team.  Duties include: Write press releases (pre-game stories, game wraps, and features). Create timely and accurate game-day notes and stats for media. Build relationships with local media, providing top-notch customer service. Create and update compelling Web site content. Track media clippings, maintaining them. Plan and execute P.R. initiatives, including player and mascot appearances and participation in community events. Help carry out the objectives of the organization’s marketing plan. General office work, including but not limited to paper-cutting, copying, managing databases, and filing paperwork. GRAPHIC DESIGN/MARKETING INTERN This paid summer internship heads up the graphic-design functions that drive the marketing of the Des Moines Menace, Iowa’s premier soccer team. Duties include: Design eye-catching materials that promote Menace Soccer and its youth programs. This includes print and display ads as well as electronic communications for Web site and e-marketing. Head up the photography archives. This includes taking and organizing photos that capture the Menace Soccer experience. Plan and execute initiatives that fit the organization’s goals and marketing plan. Assist with in-game promotions during Menace home games. General office work, including but not limited to paper-cutting, copying, managing databases, and filing paperwork. Other projects and duties, as directed by Menace Director of Operations.

In addition to these role-specific responsibilities, you will play an active role in the marketing and operations that drive our organization. You will also help with game-day set-up and tear-down for home matches at Valley Stadium, as well as any other duties to help the organization. SPORTS-OPERATIONS INTERN This paid summer internship plays an important role in the behind-the-scenes operations of the Des Moines Menace, Iowa’s premier soccer team. Duties include: Managing and maintaining the equipment and game-day clothes and uniforms of the Menace PDL team. This includes traveling with the team on some road trips. Playing an active role in Menace youth programs, including the academy, camps, clinics, and tournaments. This includes setting up and providing customer service for registrations. Coordinate the 2009 Iowa High School All-Star Games. Helping with administrative details for registrations and other essential paperwork. Leading aspects of game-day setup and tear down for Menace home games. General office work, including but not limited to paper-cutting, copying, managing databases, and filing paperwork. GL 09-9 2/27/09 Stanley Foundation in Muscatine, Iowa is seeking an intern for Policy and Outreach. This internship would be for the fall or spring for a minimum of 10 weeks. Duties include assisting professional staff with programs and events, improving the quality of the foundations resource materials, researching relevant organizations for outreach purposes, providing logistical support for events, writing brief articles for monthly newsletter, and assisting with basic administrative responsibilities. Must be a college student seeking experience or internship credit. Majors preferred but not limited to: Marketing, Journalism, Communications, International Business, Political Science, English or business. GL09-6 2/3/09 Big Brothers Big Sisters- Davenport, IA Title:  Activities Coordinator  Position Summary:  This position is responsible for providing high-level customer service.  Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining ongoing service to the mentoring relationship by creating, planning, and implementing meaningful and educational match activities.  The position is also responsible for creating and implementing volunteer trainings and assisting in creating the BBBS program newsletters.  Participation in BBBS fundraisers and special events along with AmeriCorps training is a requirement.  Qualifications:  Position may be of interest to students seeking degrees in the areas of parks and recreation, education or social services. GL09-3 1/14/09 Holmes Murphy & Associates are seeking an intern with sophomore status who is pursuing a degree in business, finance or insurance. Internship will last two years and will work the summers preferably after their sophomore or junior year in college. Upon graduation, the intern will participate in a training program for approximately six months. Additional company benefits will be available upon graduation, if hired. On-going evaluations are completed to track the progress of the intern. Interns will be responsible for providing their own housing and transportation during Summer #1. During Summer #2, interns will be paced with different mentors/departments, this time in rotating office locations. GL08-32 11/25/08 – AmeriCorps supports local, state and national organizations to provide community service. They’re partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters to increase their impact of one-to-one mentoring throughout its 13-county region.  Volunteer and Child Relations Specialist:  Duties include: 1. Obtain preliminary contact information and schedule enrollment interview within prescribed time frame for children, parents and volunteers. 2.  Respond to all calls requesting general information about BBBS within 24 hours when possible.  3. Track and maintain recurring contact with potential volunteers and families who do not begin the enrollment process.  4. Check references and conduct criminal and child abuse background checks for volunteers.  Immediately brings to the attention of the supervisor any concerns surfacing during reference checking that may influence the volunteer enrollment process.  5. Provide timely and comprehensive written summaries of all contacts with volunteers and parents.  6. Maintain volunteer and client files in manner prescribed by the supervisor.  7. Provide communications with volunteers and parents regarding agency activities.  8. Process mailings to parents, children, and volunteers.  9.  Process inquiries received by phone, mail, or email for information about BBBS. 10. Match Support Specialist: This position is responsible for providing high-level customer service.  Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining ongoing service to the mentoring relationship to ensure child safety, positive impacts for youth, constructive and satisfying relationship between children and volunteers, and a strong sense of affiliation with BBBS on the part of volunteers.  The successful incumbent will produce positive outcomes in the following areas: match closure rate, average match length, and customer satisfaction.  Applicant must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in the areas of human or social services.  Experience in the areas of child and adult populations, child safety, and case documentation is a plus.  Must possess good customer service skills, the ability to make effective decisions and excellent communication skills.  Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance.  Must pass background check.  Proficiency in Microsoft office; including work, outlook, and excel.   To apply contact the Career Center.                                                            

 

GL08-22 Modern Woodmen is giving students an opportunity to gain experience through a structured 10 week internship.  Initial training includes information about financial products and selling training.  Student will explore licensing requirements and learn what a financial advisors typical day is like.  Additional training will include basic marketing and selling strategies, referrals and prospecting, sales presentations.  Student will have the opportunity to practice sales presentations and engage in real time selling.  Student Intern is needed in the summer of 2009.  To apply contact the Career Center. GL08-21 10/05/08 AEA 9District Coordinators is looking for a history department intern.  Semester needed is spring 2008.   Skills needed include: Assist the coordinator with planning, Scheduling and promoting the history day competitions.  Intern would also develop a special project around the history day competition and their own interests.  Some areas students would gain skills in are event planning, publications, working with students and instructors, administrative planning. GL08-20:  05/06/08 Wapsi River Environmental Education Center Volunteer/Internship Opportunities in the following areas, all majors accepted.

Natural Resources (Habitat/Wildlife):  Intern will work with Invasive species control- survey, treat, and monitor as needed.  Will assist with Adopt-a-Prairie - maintaining grasslands and wildlife surveys/counts: migratory, weekly.  Maintaining Nest boxes- installation, maintenance, and inventory (Bbird, Wduck, bat, etc.) and butterfly garden.

Public Use (Public/Schools):

Environmental Education (programming): Intern will develop programs including materials and meeting standards and benchmarks for conducting Naturalist/Interpreter programs on-site/off-site. Will also host the Eagle View Eco-Center

Recreation: Intern will conduct/assist with activities (canoeing, hikes, caving, kiting, astronomy, etc.) and construct observation platform, photo blind, trail bridge as well as create/construct interpretive trail including signage, kiosks, etc.

Special Events: Intern will assist with planning, coordinating, and conducting various events including: volunteer workdays, wildlife art/photo shows, parades, Winter Fun Day, International Migratory Bird Day, Prairie Appreciation Month,

Information Technology:

Website: Intern will update website to include current information, events, activities, field trip planners, photos, etc.

Data Management: Intern will input and manage GPS site locations for future mapping needs. Assist with various clerical tasks including typing, Xeroxing, folding, mailings, etc.

Photography: Interns will update photo inventory for brochures, flyers, exhibits, etc.

History/Cultural: (to be used for future displays/exhibits on site)

Interns will research native cultural aspects specific to area use and research modern day cultural aspects to area use, including research Boy Scout use of site, create preserved displays including maps, facility blue prints, memorabilia, etc.)

Assisting Museum Theater Prog. and Dir. of Special Projects:

No specific major – as long as there is an interest in theater and the arts or working in communications, history, education, and business. Interns need good computer skills. Will assist with office work, invoicing, marketing and design work, phone calls for sales and marketing.  Interns will also help with groups during programs and events, writing small grants, and thank you cards and donation letters, helping organize events, delivering promotional materials, selecting and scheduling shows and workshops, writing press releases, presenting workshops, attending meetings.

The Figge is also looking for a Marketing Assistant to help support the museum marketing department with various marketing and public relations functions. The intern will be asked to perform data entry and upkeep on the web calendar, gather data for newsletters, press releases and web content, assist with writing, editing and layout for newsletters and website, photograph Figge events, assist in creating, editing and administering the eblast newsletter, archiving marketing photos and print, gathering and analyzing survey and demographic information, assist with design and maintenance of website, and assist with various marketing mailings, deliveries and pickups. Another internship is available to be an Audio Visual Technician Assistant to support the museum by providing much needed technical support. This assistant will learn the proper operation of extensive audio visual technology at the museum, write of record user guides for training purposes, be on hand for various auditorium rentals to trouble shoot and maximize the audio visual experience, and to assist with other various audio visual tasks as assigned. The last internship opportunity provided by the Figge is an Outreach Assistant. This job entails the intern to assist Figge Education staff with youth outreach activities, which includes preparing materials, gather, analyze or organize data from outreach visits, supervise participants in the Family Active Center and/or Studio 1, and to assist with other Education tasks as assigned. BIO09-2 4/21/09 Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs, Arkansas seeks a wildlife refuge intern starting August 15, 2008.  Will work at a no-kill facility dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned big cats.  Intern will help maintain habitats and cages, feeding and medicating animals, habitat construction and occasional promotions.  Animal keeper intern is responsible for the daily care of lions, cougars, tigers, bears and other large animals.  Duties include animal husbandry, record keeping of animal behavior, educational and public tours and customer service.  Horticulture intern is able to assist the maintenance and improvement of landscaped areas within the refuge.  Intern will plant, label, and mow all area, will also remove and monitor toxic plants.  Intern will be required to develop and complete an independent project.  This internship is for 40 hours/week with weekly stipend of $50 plus housing on the refuge, with heat/air conditioning and paid utilities. BIO09-1 3/20/09 The City of East Moline has a summer internship (May 26 – August 14) available in their health department. The student will work jointly with their supervisor learning about the various environmental health disciplines this department oversees and how to properly regulate them.  In time the student may be able to work independently on various programs with minimal supervision.  Typical job duties will include food service and property inspections, as well as, nuisance, indoor air quality and complaint investigations. Other duties would be performed as assigned.  Inspecting temporary events will require the student to work some nights, weekends and holidays.  This position will report directly to the City Health Inspector. There is frequent need to walk, stand and lift over 20 pounds and perform similar actions during the course of the workday. At times one may be exposed to extreme temperature differentials and unsanitary conditions during inspections.  The Intern will be expected to complete an executive summary detailing accomplishments during the internship with the city of East Moline. KIN/ED 09-3 3/24/09 Vander Veer Botanical Park in Davenport is seeking a summer intern to help with the My Little Wheelbarrow/My Big Wagon Program. Would prefer Early Childhood Development major or Parks and Recreation Degree. My Little Wheelbarrow is a free drop in program for 1-4 year olds (accompanied by an adult) outdoors in a public park that introduces children to gardening. My Big Wagon Program is a free program running concurrently for 4-6 year olds not far from the My Little Wheelbarrow program with the same theme but with separate age appropriate programming. Generally there are 25-50 children for both programs. The classes meet every Wednesday beginning June 17 for seven consecutive weeks from 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. The programs have been in place for a number of years but could use some fresh ideas and new handouts. Activities have included, learning what a plant needs, how to rake and put down mulch, watering with a watering can, repotting plants and worm observation. 1)Cornhusker State Games Torch Team Intern(Three - Four positions available) The intern will travel with CSG Torch Run for 21 days. Expenses and lodging paid for during Torch Run. 3) Sport Quadrant Intern This position would start in early July and end in late July and is a non-paid internship.  This is a 40-plus hours per week internship.  Description includes:  We have split the City of Lincoln into four quadrants and will assign each Sport Quadrant Intern one quadrant.  The intern will be responsible for on site set up and assistance to each sport director of each facility in their assigned quadrant.  The intern will travel between sites during competition times and will troubleshoot as well as report competition updates to the CSG headquarters.

PS07-14 10/18/07 New Voters Project is seeking an intern.  The Campaign Organizer is one of the top leadership positions in the internship program, consistently filled with highly motivated students with some degree of leadership experience.  Project coordinators are a driving force behind the Iowa PIRG’s New Voters Project, and it is an ideal position for student activists to learn how to run a campaign, expand skills, and improve personal organization.  Event organizing is a critical part of Iowa PIRG’s What’s Your Plan? campaign.  Not only will we be organizing events on the campaign trail so that we can speak directly to all of the Presidential candidates, but we’ll also be organizing events on campus, such as What’s Your Plan? photo shoots to show that young people want all of the Presidential candidates to engage them on key youth issues.   Media and public relations are a key part of the Iowa PIRG’s What’s Your Plan? campaign as we will be focused on creating a ‘buzz’ around youth voting.  In addition to going directly to all of the Presidential candidates and asking them what their plans are on the key youth issues outlined above, we will also be holding events on campus, releasing reports on the issues of global warming and higher education and submitting letters to the editor and opinion editorials to local newspapers. This 8 to 12 week program includes working alongside reproductive scientists and staff clinicians on interesting research projects in real laboratory environments, interacting with reproductive endocrinologists or male infertility specialists and observing them in clinics and surgeries, attending weekly research meetings, lectures, and discussions, presenting research findings in departmental meetings, and preparing and presenting power point talks at research conferences. SC07-6 9/25/07 - The National Space Biomedical Research Institute has a small summer program that provides the opportunity for undergraduate, graduate or medical students to join ongoing projects at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. To be considered for this program, applicants are asked to send a CV or resume, a letter of interest indicating dates during the summer that they would be available, and two letters of recommendation. Applicants must have completed their second year of undergraduate studies. The program is open to U.S. citizens.  The deadline to apply for the 2008 program is January 31, 2008. Applications must be completed at the time of the deadline in order to be considered for review. Faxed or emailed applications will not be considered. Applications are reviewed in March, and applicants are informed of the status of their applications as soon as possible. The program pays interns an hourly wage but does not cover housing or travel. SC07-04 3/3/07 The Niabi Zoological Society is looking for a Biology major for their Animal Husbandry Internship.  Under supervision of zoo staff, the intern will assist zookeepers in cleaning, feeding, and care of animals at Niabi Zoo.  The intern will develop an understanding of animal behaviors, bare, and diets of a variety of types of zoo animals.  This is a non-paid, summer internship.  Contact the Career Center for application.

 

SC07-03 3/3/07- The Niabi Zoological Society is looking for a Biology or Zoology major for and Animal Behavior internship.  Niabi Zoo’s environmental enrichment program creates activities for the animals that encourage natural behaviors or activity.  Under supervision of zoo staff, the intern will research, create, and implement an animal enrichment project.  They will carefully research and monitor the animal species as well as the animal behavior. SC07-02 1/2/07 – University of Nebraska Medical Center is seeking a Summer Internship in Health Care Ethics and Medical Humanities.  Successful applicants will spend the summer working in a research laboratory in either a basic science or clinical department.  The program will begin in June and will normally last for ten weeks.  Payment of stipends is the responsibility and at the discretion of the sponsoring department.  Students from outside the Omaha area that need housing will be able to set it up through the University.  The College of Medicine has research projects which cover a broad range of topics.  Areas of study range from basic molecular biology to the study of human disease in clinical settings.  Research opportunities exist in a number of basic science and clinical departments in the College of Medicine.  Students will be selected by a department on the basis of academic achievement and mutual interests in research areas.  Students will interact with faculty members and researchers in the laboratory throughout the project.  Contact the Career Center to have resume submitted.   

 

SC06-06 10/10/06 The Student Conservation Association Inc. seeks interns in biology, chemistry, environmental studies, history and related majors.  Intern would work alongside conservation professional in the office or in the field.  In the past, students have helped aid threatened species and provided environmental education.  Live and serve in national parks, forests and historical sites.  Year-round opportunities are available in over 50 disciplines.  Expenses paid for 12 weeks to 12 months.  Earn an educations award of up to $4725 and academic credit.  For more information on this exciting opportunity, contact the Career Center.

SW07-06 4/17/07 Rock Island Youth Build in Rock Island is seeking a youth programming intern.  Rock Island YouthBuild provides construction training, educational, and life skill-building opportunities to 16 – 24 year-old at-risk youth.  Participants have the opportunity to earn their high school diploma or GED as well as gain occupational, educational, volunteer, and leadership skills to become responsible, contributing members of society.  In the process, participants revitalize blighted neighborhoods by building new homes—creating wealth-building opportunities for low-income people in their own, underserved community.  YouthBuild’s priorities are to: Provide economically disadvantaged youth with opportunities for meaningful work and service to their communities; Enable economically disadvantaged youth to obtain the education and employment skills necessary to become self-sufficient; Expand the supply of permanent affordable housing for low- and very low-income families using the energies and talents of economically disadvantaged youth; and Foster the development of leadership skills and commitment to community.  The goal of having an intern in the Rock Island YouthBuild office is to assist with the “back office” duties. These include, but are not limited to the following: Help with research on poverty, education, and the needs of low-income families; Assistance with grant writing; Research on potential grants and funding opportunities; Updating web-based student tracking software; Helping with fundraising activities such as collating mailings, sending thank you’s, and responding to inquiries.  The intern for this program must be very comfortable using the computer to do research, writing, and working with spreadsheets. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are useful.  The position requires between 10-15 hours per week, but the hours are flexible.  Small stipend may be available at completion in internship.  See Career Center to have resume submitted.

 

SW07-05 4/17/07 World Relief is seeking an intern in the Administration and Social Work Department.  They will help refuge clients to transition to new culture and environment, teach basic of transportation.  Assist with reading mail.  Work on English skills practice.  Assist with Administrative projects as needed.  Help create and distribute forms, welcome donors, and add client information to a database.  High level of confidentiality must be maintained.  Hours are flexible and will work around students schedule.  Contact Career Center to have cover letter and resume submitted.

SW07-03 3/3/07 – Hand in Hand is seeking an intern.  They offer care for children with Autism, Down syndrome, physical challenges and other similarly disabilities.  Each internship at Hand In Hand is individually adapted to the specific requirements of each student and college involved.  Typically, an intern’s responsibilities would include working with a variety of ages and disabilities.  An intern would also work with several types of programs to give each participant a broad exposure to different activities, adaptations, disabilities and teaching requirements available for special needs populations.  In addition, interns will also have the opportunity to be involved with family communication, therapeutic programs, working with community agencies, fundraising, record keeping, and various state standards.  Contact the Career Center to get an application.
