About Angela
I am a transplant to Iowa, but I have been here for 15 years and consider it my
home. I was born in Texas, grew up in Alaska and spent summers and breaks
during college in Saudi Arabia. Travel is one of my favorite past times. I
make a trip to Alaska every year or two to visit family and while I am there, I
enjoy hiking, fishing etc. In recent years, I have hiked the Red Rock Canyons
of Arizona, Traveled across the Top of the World Highway to Dawson City in the
Yukon and toured Sonoma and Napa in California wine country. 2008 took me to the headlands of the Oregon coast and the Pacific Ocean as well as the
tropical islands of Hawaii.
In addition to traveling, I have two teenage daughters who
keep me quite busy with cross country meets and soccer games. I also enjoy
semi-gourmet cooking, gardening, hiking and have recently tried rock climbing
and rappelling with a women’s outdoor club.
My educational background includes a year of college at the
University of Alaska Anchorage and then a transfer during my sophomore year to
Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, where I graduated with
a Bachelors degree in Management and a minor in Economics. Once again, I am
going to school as well as working at St. Ambrose University. Currently, I am
completing a Thesis for the Master of Organizational Leadership Degree.
What I do at the
Career Center:
My position involves working with students and employers to
create opportunities for internships and student careers after graduation. I
also spend time reviewing resumes with students, making classroom presentations,
attending community events and planning events at the Career Center like:
employer recruiting visits, career fairs and the etiquette dinner.
What I like
about working at the Career Center:
What I like most about working at the Career Center is the
staff and students I work with, everyone is dedicated, cooperative and
creative. We have a fun time and are able to help students in the process.
