Creating Your Very First Course

Step 1 - Request an online account if you do not already have a UserID and Password from IT.

Step 2 - Logon to Blackboard: https://blackboard.sau.edu and confirm that you course is listed under courses you are teaching.

Step 3 - Learn how to develop your course and teach effectively in an online environment by call CIDT at 333-6496.   We will train you one-on-one or send you the information if you have previous experience.

Customizing the My Institution Page

To Customize what is included on your page, click the Modify Content button, select the modules you want to display, clear boxes for modules you want to remove, click the Submit button, and click the OK button. (Note that you cannot remove modules with red check marks.)

To customize how your page is displayed, click the Modify Layout button, make changes to layout options, click the Submit button, and click the OK button.

Note: to quickly customize what is included on your page, click the Minimize the Module, Modify the module, or Remove the module button in the upper-right corner of the module.  To view a module in its own window, click the Detach the module button in the upper-right corner of the module.

Opening a Course Page
  1. Under Course List, click the name of the course you want to open.

Note:  To quickly open a course page from the St. Ambrose University page, click the name of the course in the My Courses module.

Using the Performance Dashboard

The Performance Dashboard displays user activity for the course, including the last time the user logged in, review status, adaptive release, and grades.

  1. Click the Control Panel shortcut in the Course Menu.
  2. In the Assessment section, click Performance Dashboard.
  3. Optional:  to print the Performance Dashboard, click the Print button.  Right-click in the window that appears and select Print from the resulting menu.  Click the Print button and click the Close button to close the window.
  4. Click the OK button when you are finished viewing the information.

Note: To view additional information for a user, click the links or buttons in the Review Status, Adaptive Release,  and  View Grades columns.
