System Requirements: What kind of Technology will I need?
Browsers that work best with Blackboard courses are:
PC's: Pentium
120 MHz or higher processor with at least 32-MB of RAM, running Windows
95, 98, NT, Me, 2000 or XP operating system, and capable of receiving text
and audio/video clips preferably through a 56 kbps or faster connection to
the Web. Mac's: 604 PowerPC-based processor (200 MHz or better) with at least 32-MB of RAM, running System 8.1 or higher as the operating system and capable of receiving text and audio/video clips preferably through a 56 kbps or faster connection to the Web. Some online courses may require you to send and receive assignments in the form of e-mail attachments. These assignments may for example involve wordprocessed documents, spreadsheets, and/or slide presentations. To ensure communicability among and between students and instructor, it is important that class members use compatible software. To that end, and unless otherwise notified by the instructor, it is important that students submit their work using Microsoft Office-compatible or preferably directly-related products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint as found in Microsoft Office 97 or newer Office edition releases. Required Plug-ins (Click on links to download these plugins for free) Adobe Acrobat Reader is free, and freely distributable, software that lets you view and print Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files. Apple QuickTime Player is for viewing video in Apple's QuickTime format. Works with over 30 audio, video and image formats. Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer is for viewing and printing PowerPoint presentations. Download this if you do not already have PowerPoint installed on your computer. Microsoft Word Viewer 97/2000 is for viewing and printing Word documents. Download this if you do not already have Microsoft Word installed on your computer. Macromedia Shockwave and Flash is for viewing interactive content in various Macromedia formats. Real Player is for streaming audio and video content.
