 What is Elluminate?

Elluminate is an online virtual classroom service.  Elluminate allows instructors and students to interact together even though they may be miles, even oceans apart.

Overview:

Elluminate works on both MAC and PC.  The requirements are the same.  You will need to have Java install and it is a free download from Sun Microsystems. You will also need speakers and a microphone connected to system.  One option is a USB headset like the Logitech brand.  It has both a microphone and headphone speakers built together which are available for around $35 or less from most stores.

Getting Started:

Test your configuration

Test your Configuration at the Elluminate website before attending class.  Please complete Step 2 (shown below) and join the "Configuration Room" to test your equipment.  You should see this screen below when you click on the link Test your configuration.

Tips:

  • Find a comfortable place with no distractions
  • Use the Audio Setup utility to test out your microphone and speakers
  • Set your Connection Speed to the Internet
  • Be sure to join the session 5 to 10 minutes prior to the start
  • Remember to raise your hand when you have a question or comment
  • Try not to run other applications on your computer that can slow your connection to Elluminate Live!
